Ilirjana ‘Lala’ Sehu is a New York based contemporary artist, curator, and cultural organizer. Her work explores memory, resilience, and transformation through layered abstract and surreal compositions, often incorporating materials such as gold leaf to evoke permanence, fragility, and cultural memory.
Originally from Southeastern Europe, her perspective is shaped by lived experience across Kosovo, Croatia, Paris, and Los Angeles. Her practice moves between personal history and collective memory, reflecting on displacement, identity, and continuity.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including presentations in New York, the Hamptons, Los Angeles, Cannes, and Montmartre, as well as private showings for collectors.
From 2023 to 2025, she served as Regional Director and Ambassador for the Northeast at the International Association of Art (IAA USA), an official partner of UNESCO, where she led World Art Day programming, including a group exhibition of over 20 artists and public initiatives engaging diverse communities.
In 2026, she served as a juror for the apexart International Open Call for the 2026 to 2027 exhibition season, reviewing proposals from a global pool of artists.
Her practice extends beyond the studio into curatorial and cultural work, with a focus on accessibility, public engagement, and supporting diverse artistic voices.
Her work reflects a deep connection to memory, identity, and the strength found in transformation.
